Fables

When life gives you lemons I wonder if the tree is still planted
When I look at a star I wonder if my life is taken for granted
I was told to follow the rainbow but no one told me it was an illusion
I told you I needed no introduction but perhaps life found my conclusion
Wearing my heart on my sleeve however all that is seen is the trick underneath
Perhaps it is a generational situation that my forefathers decided to bequeath
As life gives me more than a box of fair trade chocolate I know what I will get
If life is worth living I’m happy to gamble, will I keep a poker face as I pay my debt?
